Partners in IPM: Working Groups
Led by Tom Green, IPM Institute of North America, Inc., Madison, WI, email@example.com
The Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) supports grower adoption of IPM with financial and technical assistance to protect natural resources. The NRCS and IPM Working Group has a proven track record of increasing participation in IPM through enrollment in NRCS programs including: Environmental Quality Incentive Program (EQIP) Conservation Activity Plans (CAPs) and 595 Contracts, and the Conservation Stewardship Program (CSP). IPM continues to be an underserved area of NRCS. Objectives in 2014 are to: 1) participate in USDA-NRCS decision making, voice input when adjustments to program policy, practices and financial assistance threaten the long-term adoption of IPM; 2) work with national NRCS program and technical specialists to help improve their capacity to make informed decisions on IPM policy, which maximizes the potential for 595 CAPs to increase adoption of IPM; 3) facilitate regular, multi directional communication between NRCS staff and IPM specialists; 4) increase consultant’s awareness of TSP opportunities through NRCS as well as their participation with growers to implement EQIP 595, 114 IPM CAP and 154 Herbicide Resistance CAP contracts; and 5) promote key updates and opportunities for FY 2014 and FY 2015 conservation programs which support IPM, e.g. EQIP 595, CAPs and CSP.
